I have been trying to connect to a certain hotspot, as I connect it says : "trying to obtain IP address "...?

Whenever you go for a networking, your machine requires a server (if you are the host) and each machine (hosts and server) has got and Internet Protocol (IP) which helps in identifying the machines on the network. Whenever you obtain an IP address without any clash then you are ready to experience Internet otherwise you are not, again the network should respond to your machine's IP call otherwise you would get as "connection timed out". This requesting time for an IP can be changed and variable packet data can exchanged for obtaining an IP. You can rectify this by selecting other gateway or simply getting your machine nearer to the hotspot.
